Community Initiatives
Our work in the local community helps to create the means and opportunities for individuals to improve their own lives. These projects: Re-entry Organizations and Resources (ROAR), the Re-entry Transition Center, the New American Agricultural Project, and LIFE Project at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility- begin at Mercy Corps Northwest, but hold potential for broad and positive systems change.
NAAP (New American Agriculture Program) works to build the farming efforts of immigrant populations in Oregon and Washington.
LIFE (Lifelong Information for Entrepreneurs) our educational program at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility where incarcerated women have access to classes that will jumpstart their futures in self-employment or small business after release.
The Reentry Transition Center, a place where formerly incarcerated individuals can find help in accessing the services and information they need to rebuild their lives after incarceration.
ROAR (Reentry Organizations and Resources) is a coalition of community-based organizations and agencies, co-founded by Mercy Corps Northwest, working to support succesful reentry of individuals from incarceration back to the community.
The Women’s Business Center, a physical and virtual space to incubate and build women-owned businesses.
