Community Initiatives

Our work in the local community helps to create the means and opportunities for individuals to improve their own lives. These projects: Re-entry Organizations and Resources (ROAR), the Re-entry Transition Center, the New American Agricultural Project, and LIFE Project at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility- begin at Mercy Corps Northwest, but hold potential for broad and positive systems change.

  • NAAP (New American Agriculture Program) works to build the farming efforts of immigrant populations in Oregon and Washington.
  • LIFE (Lifelong Information for Entrepreneurs) our educational program at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility where incarcerated women have access to classes that will jumpstart their futures in self-employment or small business after release.

  • The Reentry Transition Center,  a place where formerly incarcerated individuals can find help in accessing the services and information they need to rebuild their lives after incarceration.

  • ROAR (Reentry Organizations and Resources) is a coalition of community-based organizations and agencies, co-founded by Mercy Corps Northwest,  working to support succesful reentry of individuals from incarceration back to the community.

  • The Women’s Business Center, a physical and virtual space to incubate and build women-owned businesses.
