Mercy Corps NW Recruiting AmeriCorps VISTAs

Do you dream about making a real impact in the fight against poverty? Have you thought about a career in the nonprofit sector but aren’t sure where to start?

Consider joining our AmeriCorps VISTA team and dedicating a year to community service in Oregon.

Mercy Corps Northwest is now recruiting for eight AmeriCorps VISTA positions throughout the state. We have open positions located in Portland, Bend, Salem, Hillsboro, St Helens, and The Dalles. You can find out more about each position here.

With our AmeriCorps VISTA program you have the opportunity to serve for one year at agencies dedicated to causes that matter. You can help provide food to the hungry. You can help homeless families gain job skills and housing. You can help entrepreneurs create a successful small business. You can use your skills, abilities, and experience to help others live more stable and secure lives, and you can help wage the war on poverty.

This is your opportunity to dive into your community and dedicate a whole year to building a better world.

Alums of the Mercy Corps Northwest VISTA Team have leveraged their experiences to follow many different paths. VISTA service has led some to medical, law, and graduate schools. Other past members have built their careers in the nonprofit sector. Others have transitioned into government or to work in the private sector. And others have left for Peace Corps or other AmeriCorps positions. No matter where they end up, VISTA helps its members get the experience and connections they need to further a career.

We’re looking for the right people to join us in this effort. You might have a doctorate or you might have a GED. You could have ten years of work experience or none at all. The most important qualification for anyone interested in joining us is this: a desire to help others.

If you think that sounds like you, drop us a line. Find out more about our positions here. You can reach our VISTA Leader, Abbey Reinhardt, at [email protected] to talk about the position you’re interested in.

Be sure to apply early. We consider applicants on a rolling basis.
