Kick things off by grabbing a bite (or two) of cuisine that covers a collection of flavors and dietary needs
Looking for something savory? Spice of Africa will be at the Northwest Made Holiday Market dishing out unforgettable African fare made from 100% all-natural, locally sourced products. Try fantastic food while learning more about their courses, catering, and more that they offer year-round. Then, stop for refreshments at Honeybee Lemonades & Syrups who will be joining the fun with a selection of all-natural syrups, free from preservatives and added sugars.
If you’re craving something sweet, the Northwest Made Holiday Market will have a variety of decadent desserts from baked goods doled out by Mildred’s Sweet Treats & Catering to creamy caramels from One Fork Farm. Looking for something that’s equal parts photogenic and delicious? Stop by Ice Queen PDX for vegan ice cream treats that will delight your taste buds and your Instagram feed. Dessert is even sweeter when you are sharing it with members of the community and supporting local businesses.
Spread Good to the Greater Community when you #ShopNorthwestMade
#ShopNorthwestMade is about more than enjoying gourmet goodies, it supports the missions of local businesses that strive to give back to the community. Small businesses like Ground Up Nut Butter work to “remove employment barriers for women overcoming adversity by providing job training and mentorship through a social enterprise that produces and distributes a unique product line of healthy nut butters on a local and national level.” It’s a win-win when you support businesses such as RAM Cellars which donates a portion of profits from their VIV wine to the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund. Other vendors are tackling issues such as sustainability, with Arubah Juice bringing fantastic flavors in biodegradable bottles.
Discover Artisan-Made Goods that are Perfect for Gifting
Whether you’re seeking a gift for yourself or someone else, there is truly something for everyone on your list! Each vendor and their products have a special story behind them. Miranda Trostle, an artist who has brought her longtime passion for ceramics to life through her business, will be selling pieces from her Sego Lily Pottery. Hind Almahamid of Hind’s Naturals created her handcrafted Syrian soap and bath products to support her family following their move from Syria, then Jordan, and finally the United States. Every one of the vendors and their work showcase the vibrancy of the Portland entrepreneurial community.
Community is the Heart of it All
Beyond shopping and eating, the market is a great opportunity to connect with others and see entrepreneurship in action. Bring a friend, a neighbor, or just yourself to join the festivities! Take a photo with Santa Claus or have an afternoon dance party while Stumptown DJs keep the music flowing. While you’re here, keep your eyes peeled in the Mercy Corps Action Center and gallery to learn about our work in the Pacific Northwest, as well as across the globe.
