SEMINAR: Legal Basics for Small Businesses

About the Seminar

No matter the industry, nearly all small businesses will at some point encounter important legal questions. This seminar will cover four of the top questions that new businesses face:

  • Should I form a legal entity, and which kind?
  • What types of contracts do I need for my business, and what should go in them?
  • Are the people working for my business employees or independent contractors?
  • How do I protect my business’s brand and other intellectual property?

Attend this seminar to explore the fundamental legal issues small business owners face, and learn the answers to key legal questions. One of Mercy Corps Northwest’s legal counselors will lead this important, not to miss seminar, applicable to any type of small business.

Meet Your Presenter

unnamedAnn McQuesten is a corporate attorney in the Portland office of Perkins Coie, LLP, where she represents businesses and investors in a range of transactional legal matters. Her practice includes securities, debt and equity finance, mergers and acquisitions, and business entity formation and governance. Ann holds a BS in psychology from Santa Clara University and a JD from Lewis & Clark Law School. She currently serves as an advisory board member for Mercy Corps NW’s Women’s Business Center, and provides a monthly legal clinic for Mercy Corps NW’s small business clients. She is also an active volunteer for the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network and Chair of the Oregon State Bar Sustainable Future Section.
